25th August 2013: animals, blog-writing and carnivals.

So, this week has been a bit all over the place, and I fear it's been like that quite a bit recently and will be for the next few weeks too. At the moment these blogs probably seem a little light on the context front, sorry about that! The past few weeks have involved me recovering from (what I've called) 'Results Stress' and two of many jabs to come for Kenya... Still, onwards and upwards to what I've done this week! (with a special co-writer, my sister, writing in pink!)

I started this week off by doing lots of video uploading and editing (the editing didn't go too well though, the computer decided it didn't like the music!) Went and helped my Grandma get her food shopping, helped her put it away etc. After that we went home and me and Maria played Badminton... I'm a lot better than Evan, so I always win! That evening I decided to watch the Big Brother final (and I went to bed - because apparently it was on too late!!) I'm not surprised Sam won, but did he really do much in the house and why is he up for best male personality in the reality TV Awards?!

Tuesday, I struggled to get up. Eventually I did and did some more editing and sorted the feature for my other blog, which features two of my friends and they do a session and stuff and the cover they do is pretty impressive. It's very good, I can't stop listening and singing to it! That was about all I did Tuesday!

Wednesday was alright, I sorted my room out a little bit. I then went for a driving lesson and drove all over the place - not literally - YAY! I did roundabouts, reversing, third gear, three point turn and traffic lights. One thing though, I need to stop talking to myself! I then decided I wouldn't go to cricket (yet again) because my knee wasn't being my friend. Which was good for me because I got huggles and we watched a film!

I had to be up early(ish) on Thursday morning for my first two jabs for Kenya (Evan was making some very VERY weird sounds and she wouldn't shut up!) I felt a bit funny every now and then. Listened to Fleetwood Mac for most of the day, finally finished sorting my Mum's ipod out, then did some packing and went off in the car down south for a week...

Friday, Mum and me went back home for a few hours to sort out stuff with Gran, did lots of other things too. I stayed with Dad, and we cycled to the swimming pool. My favourite part was the slides because at the bottom you get splashed!!

Yesterday, I woke up to a storm, but annoyingly no rain on the caravan roof (one of the most relaxing sounds ever!) Went for a walk to watch my sister do some swimming. Yay! Me! And we went in the lazy river! I still hate the smell of chlorine. We came back and chilled, me and Maria watched Horrible Histories... *sings* the past is no longer a mystery, welcome to HORRIBLE HISTORIES!

Today was pretty long, we started the day off by going to Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital and saw lots of animals. LOTS! Like tortoises (that were fake! They didn't move!), a hedgehog that was massive and spiky! A huge fluffy rabbit, a really cute fox and a very funny bird and some scary owls. After that we watched the carnival which had some pretty cool floats. My favourite was the Finding Nemo one :) I got a jaffa cake shake, which was very tasty, and I got a yummy kit kat shake! Mum and Maria then went on a ride at the fun fair, which was an amusing sight for me! And it was very funny for me, Evie should have gone on it. Hah, no way! We then came home and chilled, played swingball etc. Another game I'm amazing at! I beat my friends and I beat Evan as well! (only once!)

 Music of the Week!

Ok, I know it seems like I'm always sharing Lauren's music... But this is her performance of Latch at Reading festival, where she headlined the BBC Introducing stage... Enjoy!

Sunday 18 August 2013

18th August 2013: music, waitrose and yawning.

This week hasn't been the best, I'm not gonna lie, it's been pretty bad, it started off alright, and finished all right but the bit in between wasn't a high in my year so far.

Monday didn't start off too well... As you may have guessed with last week's blog/if you keep up-to-date with my Facebook page. I think a bit of heat got to me... BUT I had a great day, even if it was only on about 4 hours sleep... Still, I got to watch the Womens Ashes at Wormsley Cricket Club, which I'm led to believe is where some of Vicar of Dibley was filmed... The estate it was on was very 'Hazll's Wood' from Danny the Champion of the World, including pheasants and a very stern looking farmer/owner... Still it was a lovely ground and a lovely day... Got to speak to family of the Aussie team, and saw all the players pretty close up... I must say, it was a dream to see Elysse Perry and Holly Ferling (two Aussies that I look up to) in the flesh and see them get wickets too. It was also pretty insane watching Heather Knight get her 50 and nearly her 100, that wwent towards her 150 odd... Then watching Brunt bowl... It was great to see people I look up to in my sport live and not behind a screen on the other side of the world!

Tuesday, I had a bit of a lazy morning - recovering. I woke up earlyish (8.30?), then promptly fell asleep again... I then woke up later that morning to a pneumatic drill, coming from the wall next to my bed... So I then got up at about 12.15... I had a driving lesson at 12.30... Which went well, however, I saw pretty much everyone I knew (slight exaggeration). But I had kids from the club I help out at cheering as I went round one corner, which was great fun! I did some emergency stops, and I can actually turn in and out of junctions now! So yeah, my lesson's are going well! :)

Wednesday, I was in a bit of a state... I had to keep myself busy, which I think I managed pretty well! Went to see my Grandma, then went to see Nan and Granddad, then wwent to see my best friend and had a catch up with her and her Mum, which was lovely! Maria, Mum and I (writing properly :P), went into town and did a quick bit of shopping because the pneumatic was winding my sister up too much! So we sorted out her game, then got a Mumford CD from the old days, and went and got some clothes, I was in need of some t-shirts and jumpers, so I got some of those and some socks! Then we came home, I wasn't hungry and I wasn't tired. I got about an hour and a half's sleep...

So at half four on Thursday morning, I got out of bed, fought the dark and made it downstairs to Mum making a hot chocolate... After watching multiple episoes of Big Brother through the night, I thought I should watch something that was a little better for my brain and watched an episode of Who Do You Think You Are, which was very interesting, it was the Lesley Sharpe episode, so if you want something interesting to watch, that's good and so was the Minnie Driver episode! I went back to sleep for a total of half an hour... Then it was off to pick up my friend so we could pick up our A Level results... Philippa was picking up her A2 results and I was picking up my AS results... With Philippa recieving an email to say she was into the uni she wanted to go to, I was already happy for her!! So, I know I've already said it, but I'm extremely proud!! And obviousy I'm happy and proud of everyone else who got into their chosen uni's :) To say I was nervous was an understatement, I couldn't stop shaking and I thought I was going to give my headteacher (who was handing us our results) a present that he didn't deserve/want on his shirt... But luckily that didn't happen... I stupidly opened my results envelope in the crush hall, saw them and bolted out the door and up the stairs, crying. With one of my English teachers shouting behind me, 'How did you do Evan?' Hah, surprisingly I did great in your subject Miss! A few swear words came out my mouth and all I could say was I can't go through another year. Saying that, I calmed down and sorted a meeting out for the next day... and couldn't stop looking over the grades, I was estatic about two of them and so annoyed at the other two!! English Literature - C, English Language - C, Physical Education - E, and Psychology - U.. Some would be happy with those, but I literally felt like I'd been let down in a subject I loved, and it had made my hate a sport I loved. I went home, cried a bit more, laid in bed, wondering what on earth was going to happen.

Again, not much appetite, and not much sleep! Still, I went into sixth form, had a meeting and pretty much got told I could carry on English Lit, Lang and PE for A2 and that was that (because it was the quickest way into uni...) I wasn't too happy, or comfortable come to that... My anxiousness was hitting a high, and I wasn't feeling too great... So, I went home a bit disheartened. However, my Mum rang my deputy head of sixth form up to sort out UCAS points, and asked about an option, so now I'm doing A2 English Lit, A2 English Lang and starting AS MEdia Studies, and staying on an extra year to finish that! It will give me more UCAS points and more time to think about Uni, because at the moment I don't think I can stand it! But we'll see...

Yesterday, I was at my Dad's and we went to go see a my great aunty, that I don't ever remember meeting, it was rather nice catching up and stuff, was quite sad at times, but there were a lot of laughs :) Then met another person I'd never met, which was nice, and then stayed in and watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I ended up going to bed early and falling asleep before the end though :(

Today was also a chilled day, saw one of my dad's friends, went for a waitrose lunch then looked around at some carpets and sofas, came home, played a bit of cricket with mum and maria, and then started writing this... 2 hours later, I've nearly finished... Things have been taking a while to do this week, and I've been trying my hardest to sleep at normal times... bleurgh!! Still tomorrow is a new week, and a new page, literally.

Music of the Week!

Following, the announcement of her new album release date, I fely it only right to put one of her new songs in... I must admit this is my favourite out of all her new ones she's released, and it's the soundtrtack to Kick Ass 2...

11th August 2013: lifeboats and a red face...

Sorry for the late blog this week, I came home on Sunday quite late and decided I couldn't function to sort all my photos from the last week out, and write a blog, so I didn't! Some might say lazy, I say sensible! Then yesterday I did something that you will find out about next blog... :P

Soooooo, Monday it was my Mum's birthday, so shout out to her! We went out for lunch with some fam, then came home and started to pack (I was first to be ready to go for once!) We then headed down to Selsey for a week away :)

Tuesday was a chilled day, although I had an spent a few intense hours sending yet more emails, and editing and uploading a blog (again, sorry cos it wasn't an entry for this one!! But it's still part of what I do, which is why I write about it in this blog!!)

On Wednesday, we had a trip to Portsmouth where I got a Nintendo game (to share with my sister... Nintendogs ^_^) and I got Mumford & Sons new album 'Babel' and Demi Lovato's new album 'Demi'. We then headed to Gunwharf Quays, my day was made as soon as we parked up in the car park, a rather aged, and serious security guy went past us on a segway. We had some lunch at 'All-Bar-One', and I don't mean to name and shame them, but it wasn't great... I'll leave it there and just say maybe you should try somewhere else if you go! I got a new bag for sixth form, because my bag I use atm, I use for pretty much every time I go out, and it got a nice rip in it, so I'll be chucking that out sometime soon... I also got some new bracelets, if you know me you know I have lots! We then headed back and I pretty much went straight to bed when we got home!

Thursday, was again a rather chilled day... walked into the village, got some stuff we needed, then saw popped in to see some more fam, then headed back and literally just played mario kart and listened to music all afternoon, then we went out for dinner, scampi and chips for me!! :D

Friday, we went food shopping for a few bits and pieces, then chilled and then in the evening we went and watched some Fireworks go off the Lifeboat station over the sea, which was pretty... and guess who's battery didn't charge... (so I got one photo and it wasn't even a firework in full show...)

On Saturday, (I can't actually remember what happened, we might have gone food shopping on Saturday, not Friday, but oh well! Who's asking for details?!) I think yet again it was quite a chilled night, and in the evening I went and watched the sunset... YAY!! On our last night there? Usually it's the first!

Sunday was a pretty cool day (well, it wasn't for my face...) we watched a parachute display from 'The Tigers' which was pretty epic... then there was a lifeboat demonstration with coastguards, helicopters, lifeboats, fisheries boat etc. my face got a bit wind/sun burnt :( Then we headed home... I then melted into my bed, caught up with celebrity masterchef with my sister, and then didn't get to sleep til about half 1 in the morning, just because. :(

This week has started off pretty well, and I had an exciting day yesterday, I'll tell you about that in the next blog... Which WILL be on Sunday! But for now I have lots of editing and A Level results to be panicking about! So, if I don't post a photo on Thursday, that'll be why! ;)

Music of the Week!

The first song is a band I have loved for a while... It's an old one, but I got there new album last week, and beforehand I'd been listening to this on repeat :)  (by the way, it has a few swear words in it... like 5 times - it's in the chorus - sorry! but it's such a good songg!!)
Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E

Again a singer I've always enjoyed lsitening to... Birdy! She's got a new song coming soon, and the video's out, so I had a listen and fell in love with the song!
 Wings - Birdy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJTXDCh2YiA

The last one is from a group I've been watching for a while, hadn't watched for the past few months, and missed this lsip through the net, it's a cracker!!

Doctor Who? - Exactly!

When it was finally officially announced that Peter Capaldi was to be the 12th Doctor, I admit I had to google him to realise who he was… AAND I admit I was one of those Whovians that didn't totally agree with the choice… I have watched him in things previously and yes, he's a good actor (the first person with an Oscar to be appointed as the doctor…), but I just couldn't see him fitting number 12. However, I've become a lot more open to the choice and I'm excited to see his take on the Doctor.

Still, to the people saying 'I wish it was someone I actually knew', let's be fair, you probably didn't know who Matt was when he was announced as 11, and I'm sure you love him now...

Hopefully, Moffat will sort out some good story lines for Capaldi, after all isn't that what a show is about, the actual underlined storyline OR has it been so 'fandomised' the actors are supposed to be young, good looking and fit the mould? Well to be honest, I think it's a nice idea to get an older person to play the Doctor,  he's the same age as the first Doctor - William Hartnell.

To others talking about him 'already being in Doctor Who in Fires of Pompeii' so have many others. In fact, the sixth doctor appeared on the show and arrested the fifth doctor before he was announced as the doctor, Karen Gillan was also in 'Fires of Pompeii' before she was Amy Pond. Freema Agyeman appeared as Adeola before she was Martha... And Gwen from Torchwood has appeared in DW as a different character too, to name a few others…

Also, pointed out by someone else…  Peter Capaldi looks like an aged Arthur Darvill…

But, the main thing that's annoyed me… He's STILL NOT GINGER.

Sunday 4 August 2013

4th August 2013: music, questions and kebab shop chips.

One of those weeks were you're really busy, but you're not really doing that much...

So Monday, I spent two hours sorting out questions, emails and other stuff (exciting stuff) for my other blog (Music In Time - if I haven't plugged it enough :P). I then helped sort out spare room, and found all my old football cards (why did I collect them? There's soooo many!!) So yeah, that took a few too many hours to sort through...

Tuesday, I did some work (not much, but enough to say I've done some work through the holidays for school!) Then in the afternoon did some filming (another exciting thing for my other blog...) That was about it for that day!

Then Wednesday... I went driving, saw a certain best friend out for one of her driving lessons too, which was amusing... I did alright, I can't turn right in/out of junctions very well... and I stalled a few more times this week... When I came home I literally had my lunch then fell asleep... Then I ended up having to take a last minute photo... (so sorry for the lack of quality on that photo!)

Thursday I got to see my little cousin, which was rather pleasant! I then went to the dentists (which I absolutely hate!!!!) but i got on alright and don't have to go back until 6 months time! (YAYY!) I was rather disappointed I couldn't get a sticker this time though... They had monsters uni ones just sat there with little Mike stood smiling at me... Obviously too old to have one now... :(

Friday, there was a mix of weather, rain and sun, clouds and blue skies... I also got a little bit more work done...

Yesterday (Saturday!) I started the day with a nice lay in (after a horrible night's sleep, I fell asleep for about 20 minutes, then I was awoken by an almighty rumble of thunder, so whilst everyone else was asleep in the house, there was me running around my room trying to shut my window to stop the torrential rain (that was so heavy, I couldn't hear the thunder over it at some points... Then there was the flashes of lightning!! Holy macaroni! Still, it settled down - and so did I - and then got some sleep...) Then Mum, my sister and I (good English there!) went to a friends house and went in the outside pool where they live! It was insanely good!! We played piggy back races, water polo, seahorse races and lots more ( I think it's important to say here that there were 5 kids there - including me of course! :P) We then came home, had dinner and then I played on the PS3 and had a go at my own Olympics... Setting 2 Olympic records and a world record... (so expect to see me at 'Rio 2016' :P

Today, I've been sorting yet more emails, questions and other things (like more filming) for that other blog... That's sort of been about it really!! (Also, the 12th doctor was announced today... can't say I'm happy with the choice but there we go! Blog to follow tomorrow/Tuesday!)

Music of the Week!

So, I was listening to her songs on YouTube all the time I was writing this blog (which took a while today... Her songs are slightly addictive... also, check out her covers if  you haven't already...)
Penelope - Becky CJ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya49-yvc3BY

Ok, another YouTube singer - but these guys are absolutely insane!! Loved them for awhile and rediscovered this cover of three insane songs, Eminem, Bon Iver and The Police - Harry & Alfie make them sound insane together don't worry!! :P Enjoy!!
Lose Yourself Walking on the Flume - Hudson Taylor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmCYOLOEErA

This last song is an interesting one... It's a good song, I don't like the original music video, but Hobbie does a greaaaat job... Lovely cover - Enjoy!!
We Can't Stop - Hobbie Stuart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXZSNz0mceQ
