2014 has gone very fast, maybe a little too fast and just like any other year; it's had its ups and downs. However, I feel like this year has been one of the most extreme roller coasters so far.
I have failed continuity in most things this year and that irritates me. Both of my blogs have been neglected at some point this year, this one more than the other, but I did get two full A Levels in June (which is a plus for my future).
My highlights include passing my driving test, turning 18, mini road trips, my Gran beating cancer, seeing over 50 acts live and sharing moments with family and friends. Lowlights include having to say goodbye to a couple of people and just general crap going on.
There's not really much to say to 2014 and I wouldn't pay to go on that roller coaster again. However, I'm happy I've lived it once to gain some happy moments (and some of my favourite photos), so thank you to everyone that has been a part of it.
Hope you have all had a good Christmas break and go into 2015 well... Enjoy! And see you in the new year :)
Autumn is my favourite part of the year, minus the rain. It's also my favourite time of the year to go on photo missions. Although, I've missed a few really stunning sunsets, I thought I'd share a few of my favourite moments/photos from the past month or so... (there's also a little surprise at the bottom).
That is easily my favourite autumn photo I've taken this year and it shows my favourite thing about autumn. The beautiful colours on the leaves.
31st October: a photo mission with Petar.
You should go follow him on instagram and subscribe on YouTube. He puts a lot of time and effort into his photos and videos, and they always come out really well.
Even though I can't stand the sound of fireworks, I always try and see some each year, this year I went and enjoyed the whole experience, so that was a plus, oh and I couldn't decide between these two photos.
12th November: a hot drink for a cold night.
Nothing beats a hot drink on a cold night. This one has a surreal link to it, as it was the one I drank in London, whilst waiting for the go ahead to interview a band... So that's a highlight of my autumn.
18th November: blue skies and golden leaves.
I really love the clear blue skies in Autumn, because it usually means there's a crisp and cold air to the outside world, wrapping up warm with thick socks and layers is then the way to go.
20th November: christmas lights, light up the street.
After an evening bouncing on trampolines, my sister, friend and I ventured into town to see the lights after they'd been switched on, we also watched the fireworks display (because every event in autumn and winter seems to have fireworks). This little side street looked rather 'cute'.
I've also made a video putting words/videos/photos together about autumn....
So, I keep typing up lots of blogs and not posting them, I will get past this phase hopefully. It feels weird blogging and I'm seriously lacking motivation at the minute, not writing about music feels kind of uncomfortable. I feel like that's what I've zoned myself into now, I feel that's my comfort zone when it comes to blogging now, and I kind of hate that! I loved this blog, this is where it all started. I've got some many blog ideas, but I spend a day writing one out and hate it.
I did have an idea to do the '100 Things That Make Me Happy' blog tag, and I still want to, but I feel like writing about them just isn't interesting to people. I have got some more ideas over this summer, and I guess I need to just post them out and not care what people think about them, I've already learnt that if people aren't interested the just won't click on the link - and that's fine!
It's become easy to focus too much on views with blogs, Music In Time is growing (really well) and this blog is still at the start of the race. I never wanted this blog to become massive and I always wanted to keep it as a personal writing space which others read as well, it's just hard to keep it that way!
Still, in between a full schedule of sixth form, work, MIT and life, I'll be drafting (and eventually posting) some blogs from over the summer.
Mind ramble/rant thing over and back to reading the news for media, congratulations to Wills and Kate - some good news for once!
2013 has been a weird year, to say the least. It's been great in some respects, seeing musicians I can now call friends grow and succeed. Learning to drive has been great so far and looking forward to doing my theory/practical soon etc. and of course, I've been on the biggest trip of my life! There's been a few other things as well that have made my year an alright one, BUT 2013 has also been a pretty bad one too.
The challenge I originally set myself was to take a photo every day for a year, I ended up starting a daily blog, which went weekly when exams and A Level stress kicked in, but this blog has opened up so many opportunities for me! I thought it'd be an easy thing to do as it doesn't take much to click the shutter on a phone/camera/iPod and it's something I enjoy doing. Obviously, I had no clue what was going to happen this year, and it prove to be more of a challenge than I thought! The blogs have changed over the year; with them getting better (hopefully you agree too :/) and dipping at the end of the year - sorry about that! Some of the photos have been appalling cop-outs, but others (I feel) have been some of the best I've ever taken! I'm really glad I've done it though, I've been able to sit down, especially in the last few weeks and read through what I've done this year.
The more the year went on, the less I wrote and the more vague the blogs got and the less enthusiastic I was to get the photos/blogs up on time. This year has been a long one for me and especially my family as a whole.
I've struggled with stress of exams and exam results (panic attacks were a great running theme through the summer-thankfully dying down after my A Level results), I've vented many frustrations (exams, sports results and injuries, coursework, A Levels in general etc.) but I've also tried giving an insight into what I've done each day/week.
I've done so much this year, half of it I'd never imagined I'd be able to say I'd done! I've organised a fundraising dinner and live music evening, with (quite a bit of help) from my friends (and family!) but that went insanely well. I've also been to loads of gigs/concerts, Frank, Lauren, Gabrielle Aplin, Girls Aloud, Saint Raymond, Billy Lockett, Andreas Moe, Shannon Saunders, Lewis Watson, Orla Gartland, Daniel James, Izzy Bizu and The Boxettes (to name the ones that really stood out to me). I've seen quite a few good films this year, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Life of Pi, After Earth, Monsters University and of course the much anticipated Hunger Games: Catching Fire. There's also been the massive hype about the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary and saying goodbye to Matt Smith as Twelve last week.I just about got through my AS exams with two Cs and two other grades, I've dropped two subjects and picked up a subject that I'm enjoying - so all's good! My plans for the future have changed A LOT over the year, I'm avoiding Uni for a bit and seeing what opportunities open up, whilst hopefully getting a job/work experience within media or just something that helps me pay for concerts and everything else! I've also been on the biggest trip of my life this year, I've flown for the first time (which was pretty scary!) it was also the first time I'd been further than France. I can't even begin to explain how amazing the Kenya trip was, it's definitely changed my perspective on things, seeing how they live and still continue to be so positive was eye-opening. It was one thing I've always said I've wanted to do and now I can say I have!
Next year, is hopefully going to be a good one! I'm going to continue blogging each week, but not as much about me and what I'm up to and not as many photos, because I want to focus on getting good content out and worthwhile photos. Main things for me in the new year, is to pass my A Levels, get a job/work experience, play at least three cricket matches and stay positive. I've had a nice break from cricket this season, after 10 years of playing pretty much once a week, if not 2 or 3 times, all year round, I'd got bored/fed-up and didn't enjoy it, so hopefully that changes this year! Failing that, I'll take up jogging or something - anything to get fit - I don't enjoy getting out of breath after one flight of stairs (you think I'm joking!)
Thank you's of the year go to my Gran, she's the bravest woman I think I'll ever know, she's had the worst year, but she brushes it off like it's nothing and keeps on going. She's ill, she's fighting but she's smiling. <3
My Mum's been pretty impressive this year too, she never stops and she always puts others first, thank you! <3
Obviously a massive thank you to other family and friends that support me in what I do, got me to Kenya etc. also a massive thank you specifically to Evie, Soph, Mads, Isy, Phil and Lai and a big thank you to Sophie B for all the creative help etc. as well as everything else! I don't really know who reads this, as it's not something that I enjoy talking about and it never comes up in conversation, but to all those that read it - thank you! If this is your first time reading or your 150th, if you've liked any of the photos on FB, shared any links/downloaded or listened to any of the music etc. - thank YOU!
(It wouldn't be a One Day at a Time blog without music/a video/exciting stuffs so here you gooooo...)
Exciting Stuffs... Next year brings more challenges, I will be writing for two blogs and there's an opportunity for me to write for a music website too!
One Day At A Time is moving, and will be written by four different people, Philippa, Isy, Sophie and Me (Evan), we'll be covering different subjects, food, music, art and quotes/lifestyle. So there we go!
Links will be put here very soon, when the links are all set and launched! But for now, keep posted for the last and first as we cross from 2013 to 2014! Happy New Year to you all and see you in the new year, probably on a new blog!
The last couple days of 2013 have been pretty average...
Yesterday, I got up pretty late, because of the long day and late night Sunday. I sorted out blogs, went out to run some errands with Mum, sent an email and got a reply, more about that in the end of year blog... Played some tunes on my uke, played against Misty on a few of her new games, had more wind and rain, so weren't too hopeful about electricity being around for long, but luckily the wind and rain died down and it didn't come to anything! Sorted out a few more things for next years blog and sorted out end of year video stuff a bit more. Chilled in the evening, finally downloaded spotify onto my iPod, if you like music, which in pretty sure a lot of people do, it covers all genres/artists, it's basically great and I'd recommend it to anyone, it's also nice and easy to use!
Today, I woke up half an hour before my driving lesson, and got up even closer to it... That went ok, then came home and started sorting out blog/photos etc. Then spent most of the day sorting those out! Haven't really done much else, listened to quite a bit of music and gone through a lot of photos...
Photos...
30th December 2013: exciting emails, editing and chilling.
This week has DEFINITELY been different! Christmas 2013, has been and gone! (There's a Kenya video linked at the end if you'd like to watch it as well! :))
Monday, I played Father Christmas, and made my sister a Frank Hamilton calendar, (which she seemed to like when she opened it!) I also got together photos and planned up blogs, however, at about 3 in the afternoon, our power cut out. The wind and rain has been insanely bad where we live, gale force winds, and rain, we lost 8 fence panels that day, including the two me and my step-dad went out at 11.30pm to pull down because they were more of a danger being attached to the post. Luckily, we got the power back just after 7pm. Still, we survived!
Another interesting day Tuesday, Christmas Eve in fact! It started off wet, rain hammering down still mixed with ongoing pretty impressive wind. Visits from grandparents, work done etc. we didn't have any power for most of the day, and it came back on at 7ish?! We opened our Christmas Eve box, which had a chocolate bar for each of us, a hot chocolate for me and Misty, and a cd for Misty too, so we all enjoyed those! We then went for a walk to see the Christmas lights, which is a Christmas Eve tradition, however, it got cut short by the river up the road from us bursting it's banks and flooding surrounding areas. People got evacuated and it aws at the highest I've ever seen it, the field either side of the river, had joined forces with it and basically become one fast flowing water force. We got home and got lots of wrapping done, aaaaand the tree went up!
Christmas Day, was one to remember, I woke up and the house was cold, dark and quiet, there hadn't been any electricity since 2:40am, we slowly got up, and opened our presents from our pillowcases by candlelight, had breakfast, and slowly got up. We chilled out for quite a while, not doing much, sitting on the sofas watching Misty play with some things she got from her pillowcase. 3 things that stood out in my pillowcase, some burgundy and black vans style shoes, chamomile and maple tea (which I'm looking forward to trying!) aaand a stir-in hot chocolate, which looks like it'll be good too!
We gave in and decided it would be a while before we ate our Christmas dinner (if we'd get to eat it!) so we opened the majority of our presents from each other. I got a mix of CDs, t-shirts, iTunes giftcards and Wizard of Oz book collection (which'll take me a while to get through!) Misty got some DVDs, CDs, clothes and horse-riding gear. We played with a few of them etc. and then decided we wouldn't have Christmas dinner out because of lack of electricity etc. we then started getting some food together to have and guess what, the electricity came back on, so we rang the place back and sorted to go there still for dinner. It was seriously good! French onion soup with bread for starter, turkey with stuffing, yorkshire pudding, carrot and parsnip mash, roast potatoes, brussels and sausages, was pretty good! Pudding was hard to eat, because we were all pretty stuffed, but white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake is always gonna be too tempting! Nom.
We got home, through flooded roads etc. and opened the last few presents, Gran loved her jigsaw stuff and Misty and I got Disney Infinity, which is a great game!!
We watched a bit of TV and chilled for a bit, then headed to bed, pretty late!
Boxing Day, a late get up for me, I really wasn't feeling too well, too much food the day before me thinks! But once I did get up, my step-dad, sister and I headed off on some errands. I drove and did pretty well considering! Did lots of parking... which I nailed aha! Dropped off some Christmas cards - better late than never! - picked up some milk and cheese, dropped off some presents to the grandparents, saw family and then headed home again. We then had some nibbles for dinner, which were tasty :) Big Fat Quiz of the Year was watched and Match of the Day, then headed to bed!
Friday, normal time getting up, then editing my Kenya video (which is finally finished and uploaded!) I also started getting together photos from the past year to be put into my End of 2013 video... We had some visitors, so got to see more family and Misty was over the moon when our little cousin turned up as well! :) In the evening we watched the rest of Match of the Day, I drafted my end of year blog, and started planning the first few blogs for my new project next year (which will all be announced very soon!)
Saturday, got up at a reasonable time, Misty went horse-riding and went for a hack. The weather was a lot brighter than what it had been in the past few days, I type up some blogs and prepped them ready to be published. Got on with trying to put together a 2013 video, but I'll be honest, even though I've done quite a bit, I don't feel like I've done that much, don't get me wrong, I've been to Kenya, loads of music events and started driving etc. but last year was so full of different things it was easier to make a video showing a variety of things I'd done... Still, that'll be done in the next few days! :) We went round next door for a couple of hours, which was great, wasn't too many awkward pauses... I survived that without saying anything too random, although there were a few quiet moments near the end, that I had to put an end to by saying random mumbles! Then it was home to do more blog work and watch some TV, watched The Ukulele Orchestra at Sydney Opera House, which was pretty impressive.
Sunday, was a loooooong day, I ventured up to London with Lailana for a very very long day of walking, sight-seeing, handing out hats to the homeless and feeding them too, as well as waiting around to meet Alisa at Waterloo from Germany! As I said, it was a very long day, with a few hot chocolates (seriously recommend the white chocolate one from Costa - it's sooo good!) We went all round South Bank, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Regent Street, Picadilly Circus, Shaftesbury Avenue etc. which was great and we handed out some sandwiches that we'd made on the train up, to give to homeless people, as well as a couple of hats each to keep them warm! One guy refused them, but all the others seemed really grateful, which was nice to see! Got some great photos of Westminister, Big Ben and London Eye as the sun was setting, but was a bit dissapointed with Eros not being in a snow globe anymore? It was still really nice to see all the Christmas lights/decorations scattered all over London though! We had a Nandos at the O2, which was cool, because it was the same one that I had Nando's with Lauren for the EP Release back in October last year! But it was also great because Lai got to see the O2 for the first time, and she got to see it in lit up, which to me is the best time to see it! After that, we headed back to Waterloo and waited around for Alisa, and it was great to see her, weird but great! Then we headed home!
Music of the Week:
I got a fair few CDs for Christmas and iTunes cards, which always come in handy! So, this weeks songs are from there!
First up is the amazing London Grammar, I think they're great and I've been following them on the musical journey for quite a while, having listened to their album A LOT over the past few days, I've found it really hard to choose 'favourites' because they're genuinely all really good! It's definitely a CD I'd recommend if you like HAIM, CHVRCHES, Lorde or Aluna George...
I think I might have already put this on here? BUT it's reaaaally good! It was between this, 'Shyer' and 'Strong' so I suggest you check those out as well!
Next is a song from the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, which also great! Loads of variety on there, mix of artists and genres, and they're pretty much all great, I linked a song a week or so ago by Coldplay, which definitely wins out of them all, but I've enjoyed 'Who We Are' by Imagine Dragons, and some other tracks by artists I wouldn't usually listen to! A bit disappointed in Of Monsters and Men, I love their music and everything, but the track on there's a bit samey to their others, but 'Mirror' by Ellie Goulding really stands out! It's clearly written for the film/book, and fits it really well! (If you listen to the words and have seen/read the book/film - you'll know what I mean!)
I also got Lorde's 'Pure Heroine' album and 'The 1975' (two albums I'm surprised I didn't get earlier!) They're great as well! But I've got Bon Iver's albums via iTunes, which I'm really hapy about, I had a few singles before hand, which I listened to during the power cuts, which was great mixed with some Sigur Ros. I've found it really easy to chill whilst listening to Bon Iver recently, and again, it's really hard to pick out a track to put on here as I've been listening to so many on repeat. So I put my iPod on shuffle and have put the one that came up first! Their music's chilled and the videos on their Youtube channel for the tracks are so easy to watch and chill to as well.
Last up is a track from Harry Seaton, he's an insane singer/songwriter, this is an acoustic version of the song, but I really suggest you grab his EP, he's done some great tracks in the past and I'm pretty sure he'll make it big eventually! Enjoy!
23rd December 2013: wrapping, decorating biscuits and power cuts.
24th December 2013: a flooded and cold christmas eve.
25th December 2013: a christmas to remember!

Basically... There will be an end of year blog coming in the next two days, BUT I will add on Monday and Tuesday onto this blog, so by the end of this blog I'll have done a total of 150 posts... More exciting announcements happening over on the FB page :)
An interesting week. Tiring but pretty insane! Pretty much did something every day (which makes a change!)
Monday 17th June: falling asleep in the common room.
I went to see my sister and her school in a music festival/concert thing, and of course I enjoyed every second of it, I even sang along to a few of the songs... However, it annoys me that there were kids under the age of 10 craving attention, moving to the middle of the stage, at the back (to make sure they stuck out like a Harry Potter fanatic at a Star Trek convention) continuing to move 3 schools away from their own and then start messing around. They could have at least had the decency to learn the words...
Tuesday 18th June: 'sit out for a second and rethink the situation'.
After being at sixth form for the day and getting quite worked up about having to look at uni's and courses and other rubbish (my current opinion of it all) I went home and ended up going for a cycle to watch the sun set, ended up seeing 2 deer, lots of bats flying around and listening to the birds, it was really refreshing and nice to just chill and being in the middle of nowhere.
Wednesday 19th June: applied for my provisional license & off to a gig.
Time at sixth form, had 3 hours at home in between, applied for my provisional (keep off the roads :P) then fell asleep and may have been a bit late back into school... Then in the evening I took my Mum to a gig... It was Lewis Watson's tour, with Frank Hamilton and Shannon Saunders supporting. It was one of the most surreal nights ever, I helped Frank and Andy (his manager) quite a bit, did some flyering and the mailing list, got some merch and hugs and photos... Lewis was insane, I haven't seen him live before so it was great to see him and meet him and hear him somewhere other than my headphones!
Frank was insane as always, nuff said.
Shannon was amazing! I loved her song 'Heart of Blue' before I went but then when she performed it live I loved it even more, and the covers she did... Awesome! Just gutted I didn't get to meet her before she went!
#TeamFrank
Thursday 20th June: long words, long day and a cricket match.
Another day at sixth form and a cricket match for the boys that I'm helping to coach, they lost (badly) but considering the school they played puts a lot more money and time into their sports, it wasn't THAT bad a defeat...
Friday 21st June: socialising for once.
Friday, was a longg day, sixth form, then the youth club I help out at (which was low on leaders), then after changing my mind multiple times, I decided to go to my friends party, there were funny parts of the night, like being offered multiple bread rolls by a certain person... and another persons 'Guide to Dancing'... Still, I came home, had a hot chocolate and then went to bed.
Saturday 22nd June: stormy sky and rough seas.
I woke up, eyes streaming and a million sneezes later, I make it to the kitchen to sort out my hay-fever (which has been an absolute nightmare this week!) My sister comes back from horse-riding (which apparently she's a natural at!) Then I sorted my iPod out, and we were off for 2 days and a night to the coast. The weather wasn't great, bit too windy, meaning it was freezing (but I don't think it helped I'm still ill) Still, I survived and watched a programme about cats and then watched The Voice... wanted Leah to win, and let's be fair she should have won, Angela was great and stuff but even her parents looked shocked...
Sunday 23rd June: mission caterpillar.
Less windy today, did some gardening (funny enough, in the garden!) Had an eventful trip to the dump... The bags of cut down 'plants' seemed to be the home of a bunch full of caterpillars... Anyone that knows me will know that I have an almighty (see what I did there?! ;)) phobia of caterpillars... So my sister breaking down in tears and me being the brave person that I am ended up sitting in the back, sweating and hyperventilating over these flipping things... Anyway, on the way home we saw this and I thought it was insane, I'm a major fan of graffitti/street art style stuff and it was by a burned down and derelict garage which had unfortunately turned into a dump... But I thought it was pretty awesome, so major credit to whoever did it! It sort of sparked a question, should it be a crime to share your art like this? Personally, I think so long as it's appropriate for the place it's in (and it's good), it deserves to be shown...
Music of the Week!
The first one because of the gig on Wednesday... Loved this song anyway, but then her cover just completes it... All I Want (cover) - Shannon Saunders: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dOCT7LjZAg
Another one, because of the gig this week (but it would have made it on here sometime anyways!) (oh and he swears, but it's an insane cover, xylophone and everything!)
Lauren Aquilina is announcing info on her 2nd EP tonight (Sunday 23rd) at 8pm... It's also her 18th birthday! So go give her a like/follow, say happy birthday and stay tuned for her announcement!!
Lastly, 'Music In Time' was launched last week... 'a blog that brings talented musicians to your eyes and ears...' The first feature is on Tuesday 25th June... There are already opportunities for you to ask artists questions and competitions will be coming soon... So go like the page/follow on twitter/go read the blog!!
Today's photo is of the field from my bedroom window. I've had a pretty chill day, got up about 9.30, got to orthodontists for 10, that's surely a record? Anyways, they said my teeth hadn't moved that much, and so I only need to wear my retainer at night.. YAY!! 6 months, and it might all be over :)
Then we came home, I put together a video, from a certain trip to London? I've done quite well on twitter this week, tweets from Mark Butcher, Shanel Daley, Ebony Rainford-Brent, Frank Hamilton, Saint Raymond and Luminites followed me, as well as a lot of singer/songwriters and new bands, I'll do a specific blog on them at the weekend :)
Apart from that I haven't really done that much apart from make a birthday card, for my sisters friend tomorrow, and I'm going Laserquest tomorrow!! YES!! I also did some revision notes for PE, might actually attempt some English coursework tomorrow...
You'd think that seeing as it's half term I'd be doing lots of stuff and would have the time and commitment to do a better, longer and more interesting blog, but I don', I'm sorry...
Anyways, a video for you today, it's kinda long, but it's worth watching, and the links aren't in a description, they're in yesterday's blog... :)
So today's blog is yeterdays events basically. I had a great day and night. It started at 11.56am, as we got on the train to London. We got to Waterloo, looked for somewhere nice to eat, but everywhere was either packed or too expensive, yeah we were probably being too picky, but oh well... So we settled for a sandwhich from M&S, which was pretty tasty, and we sat by South Bank, people watching, which was interesting, then we did our traditional walk down to London Eye and back, we saw Colin Jackson, the Olympic sprint hurdler and some insane street performers, and some really weird ones too...
We then walked down to Trafalgar Square, took some photos and did some filming, which ended with me getting scared by a pidgeon flying towards me through my camera screen, and hitting my head on the marble fountain thing, and then getting laughed at... Then we headed back to South Bank, sat watching skaters for about an hour, which was pretty chill. After that, we got on the train to Tower Hill, we walked round the Tower, and walked over the Tower Bridge, which was horrible experience, especially standing near the edge trying to dodge the people on the immensely busy path.
We then decided, we should probably start heading to where the venue was, so we knew where it was, and so we got a train to Kings Cross St. Pancras, Platform 9 and 3/4 was closed and the station was packed, so I'm assuming there was problems with the trains or something? Anyways, we walked up to the venue, and then found a Costa, seeing as we hadn't had a Nandos, I thought the closest thing we could get to Aquitradition was a giant bourbon from Costa? We sat there for about 2 hours? Drinking hot chocolate, playing that four picture one word game? and listening to Lauren's songs and people watching again...
Then it was time for the gig, it was Lauren Aquilina's first headline tour, and it was the first night... The support acts were Billy Lockett and Saint Raymond (links for them at the bottom), and they were insane! If you get a chance to see them live, do it! It was a great gig and great music, including some new tracks from Lauren, a duet with (Bryce) who was also amazing, a loop pedal mash up and finished with Fools. It was a pretty crazy day, but a good one, and there will be a video in the next few days, but I ended up going out this morning shopping, and then fell asleep this afternoon, so I'll start on it this afternoon, Saturday at the latest :) Oh, an extra comment, I will forever hate flash on cameras! Thank you to Billy Lockett, Saint Raymond (Callum) and Lauren Aquilina, for a great evening and photos :)

Today, I'm off to London with my friend Philippa, we're going to be spending a day up there taking photos, filming and eating. Then, we're seeing Lauren Aquilina!! Oh and I think we're planning on going to Platform 9 and 3/4 :) So you'll get all the info, photos and stuff about that tomorrow :)
Today's blog is actual an article I wrote as a draft for my English, dunno whether I'm actually allowed to do this, but it makes it seem that little bit more worthwhile... So here it is:
It’s worrying that, seven out of 10 adults in the UK are
leading ‘sedentary lifestyles’. Meaning that they are moderately active for
less than one 30 minute period a week. It’s dangerous to their health. It’s
dangerous to their lives. Are you one of these people?
During the Olympics, I saw and heard never-ending comments
about how the Olympians and Paralympians were an inspiration to a lot of
people. For example, David Weir, Paralympic wheelchair athlete, was born with a
spinal cord transection, leaving him unable to use his legs. Another
Paralympian, Jonnie Peacock, a sprint runner, who aged five had contracted
meningitis resulting in his right leg having to be amputated. Still, at the age
of 19 he has run for his country in the Paralympics and won gold. Yet the
number of physically inactive people keeps rising. Exercise for many people is
a daunting prospect. It’s believed by too many people that so long as we have a
balanced diet, then that’s fine, we’re living healthy. Wrong, without exercise
we are at risk of cancers, heart diseases and bone disorders, yes, even if you
eat healthily. People who say they don’t do exercise because they can’t afford
it, whether that’s because they can’t afford to join a gym or get the kit or
equipment needed for a specific sport. However, a walk is free, a jog is free,
and a workout at home can be free.
It’s encouraging to see in sports like football and cricket,
there is a lot of work being done to increase participation in the disability
competitions and tournaments. There’s an increase in organisations funding
these tournaments and activities. In recent months, lots of funding has been
pumped into elite levels, but the grass roots have been left. So unless you
play for your county or country, your team and your personal sport have been
left to suffer. It seems harder
to find clubs and organisations to play fun sports, rather
than just jogging, which I admit can be boring (but it’s still better than
nothing). Should we blame it on organisations like Sport England, or do we
blame it on local clubs not advertising for new members/players. Surely, we
should be encouraging children to take part in physical activity rather than
sit inside and play on computer games or watching the latest episode of TOWIE.
If they did take part in exercise whether a kick about with friends after
school in the park or a kick about in the garden, there should be more of it.
Even if it is easy to sit down on a Saturday afternoon to watch sport on TV,
with a pizza and a bottle of your favourite drink, but more people need to get
up and join in.Taking part in physical
activity has many positives and lacks in negatives. A positive being that it is
one of the most effective ways to relieve stress, it’s also a good way to make
new friends. Should we be doing more exercise?
Also, I filmed a video yesterday... which is the first of a series I'm calling evan:24seven not because it's me 24/7 or anything like that, just because it sounded good when a friend suggested it, and it linked nicely to onedayatatimeevan... So shoutout to Lailana for that.. THANK YOUU!! I'm planning on filming one today too, so keep your eyes peeled :)
It's only short, as it's only an intro... but here you go :)
I wasn't at school/sixth form most of today becuse I had Psychology and EPQ, although my EPQ teacher didn't turn up, which didn't bother me too much. :P So today I had a bit more time to think of a photo to take, and I had time to do some more coursework and also print off the programmes for Saturday, now I just need to fold them :)
I found myself getting incredibly cold every time I went outside today, and yes I had a coat on... and an extra pair of socks, because there's nothing worse than cold feet... But luckily I didn't get to the point where my jaw ceased up and I couldn't move my mouth, so therefore couldn't talk like I did the other day... Hah!
Putting my favourite photos together every now and then for my next video, hoping for it to be up in the next week or so...
Another short entry today, as I've got LOADS to do. Hoping to find an interesting topic for a blog entry in the next few days... That's it for now!
Today, I have walked in snow, eat my last jaffa cake from xmas, drank a variety of drinks and cooked a mystery item of food... which turned out to be a goats cheese and roast pepper cheesecake... not a lasagna, blueberry pie or moussaka... :P
Started sorting out a new video... however the next one will be my favourite photos I've take, so stills... But!! My friend is in the process of recording a guitar piece, so when the snow has cleared off, I'll will start recording videos for another new one :)
My school/sixth form opening late tomorrow so that's nice :) get some more things done...
That's it for now folks, will find an interesting topic tomorrow :)
Today's photo represents my evening spent playing guitar and keyboard attempting to make an original piece for my next video... which should be coming soon... Just getting ideas together, and sorting music out with my friend :)
Been quite busy today, went out for a walk to town this morning, had a cooked breakfast, gave my Dad his birthday present, and then went and got a sledge thing, and went to Sainsbury's to pick up ingredients for vegetarian meal for next Saturday. When I got home I did some English coursework, which is still in slow progress.. Now finalising final template for programme for next weekend, then I'll just have to finish the menu in few days, then get them printed :)
Also, a quick music suggestion... He's amazing, and when I described the song in the link below to my friend I said 'it's lovely'... Hmm, it was used as the background music in Sam Pepper's recent video, and I've fallen in love with him, the guy is called Josh Records, and he's got an EP coming out soon... so keep your eyes and ears peeled :) Josh Record - For Your Love
This is todays photo, I took advantage of the snow, and went for a walk to see the horses, and no they're not mine, or anything to do with me... Seeing as I didn't have to go into school/sixth form - whatever you wan't to call it, I decided to spend my day filming a video of the snow... It's only short, but it's a taster of what you could be seeing more of... I'd like to make more, but obviously there are other things that take priority at the moment, like my A Levels and this blog, so maybe every now and then one will pop up.
So there you go, short entry today, because I've got a programme to design!! Enjoy the video, and yes I played the guitar for the background music, it's a bit repitive but I've only really started learning since christmas.
